What is your Name? Jason Johnson

What is your Nick Name? JJ or Jay

How old are you? 27

Where do you live? Seaside, CA

What do you do for a living? I am a mechanic at a bike
shop in Monterey, CA
Your a versitle rider that rides street and flatland,
what got you started?
Well, I was always into bikes in general, I used to ride to
school, and would just ride around the neighborhood. I
didnt really get into riding until a friend that I used to
play basketball with got a GT one year for his birthday
and rode it to and from the courts. It was a 96 or 97
Freestyle Team, all chromed out and badass looking.
He started to go up to the basketball courts and spend
more and more time just riding flat instead of playing
ball, and Id go over in between games and try tailwhips,
next thing you know I haven't played ball in several
years hehe.
Do you favor a particular style of riding and why?
I like rolling tricks, mainly because I'm horrible at scuffing, I still to this day cant do funky chickens.
What is your favorite trick to do?
I like doing hitchhikers, I think they're a little played
out but they're fun as hell.
What links/tricks are you learning currently?
umm, hiker pivots, bar flips into halfhikers, and Ive
been playing around with G-turns, trying different
things out of them.
Is there any link or trick that has haunted you?
Hiker kickflips.Broken spokes, sprained ankles, Ive
come close a couple times, but yeah, Ive kinda lost
hope. Oh, and scuffing tricks, I really, REALLY suck
at scuffing.
What was your worst accident on a bike?
I broke my wrist doing a peg wheelie
down a hil, I  looped out, landed on my feet, and
then cartwheeled, broke both bones in my left
wrist. Got a good amount of rash too. That was
the worst because I couldnt ride for two months.
How often do you ride and with whom?
I ride flat once or twice a week(I know I know, I
need to ride more lol), but I ride at least five
times a week, weather its flat, street, road or
mountain. I usually ride with my friend Mike, who
lives right near where I work. Theres two other
riders that I ride with once in a while, we have
conflicting work schedules so its hard to get a
session going.
What is your favourite memory about riding?
Pulling my first hitchhiker.I had a dream where I could do
them, and after the dream I went up to
this underground garage every day after work and rode
by myself until about 1 in the morning. I was starting to
get comfortable with rolling in a hitchhiker, I landed one,
and it didnt really even click that I had landed one, I just
got stuck on landing another one. I tried for a while after
with no success and was kinda bummed. After I got
home I settled down and thought back, and
I got this awesome feeling of accomplishment, I proved
to myself that I can learn to do things that once seemed
so foreign to me.
What is your worst memory about riding?
Hmm, crashes aside, Id have to say its a tie between getting a flat right as your warming up for a good
session, or getting kicked out of a spot. They're  not really bad things, just very irritating.
What do you think is in the future for flatland?
Crazier and crazier. Flatland is getting so tech, there will be worn out slow-mo buttons on remote
controls worldwide.
When you ride do you like to listen to music?
Yes, I have a little MP3 player that I ride with, best
invention ever!
What is your favorite kind of music to listen too?
I mostly like Sublime, its kinda
punk-ska-reggae-metal. I like to ride to metal, classic
rock, 80s, reggae, emo, rap, pretty much anything
but country music, it just doesn't do anything for me.
What kind of bike are you riding and how is it set up?
I'm riding a Quamen G6, 73.5 head angle, zero offset forks, Flauta bars.
Any last comments to the world out there?
Umm, keep ridin? I dont know,Im drawing a blank! lol

What riders do you look up to?
I've always liked Paul Osikas riding the most. Others who are just amazing are, of course, Kevin Jones,
Cory Stratychuck(did I spell that right?) Dan Rigby, Viki, Simon OBrien, all the Japanese riders, Wilhelm,
Penonzek, man, I cant even think of all of the insanely talented riders nowadays.
