Name: Bill Curtin
Age: 40
Years Riding: 28
Living: Currently a college student.
What got you started?
My friends (Hal Marshman, Andy "AJ" Johnson
and several others) and I built a dirt track in the
woods near my house. We were inspired by
another of our friends who's cousin lived in
Texas and came to visit for a summer. He was
involved and raced in this new sport called
B.M.X. He brought with him, his race bike which
was a modified Sting-Ray. We were hooked.
What inspires you to ride?
I play around on a cruiser and have a couple
of 20" bikes that I mess around in the
driveway with.
How did you become a administrator
of Vintagebmx?
I bought the name while I was involved with the
oldschoolbmx.com message board.
I wanted a place to put pictures of my bikes. It
sort of grew from there...
Your Favorite Topic?
I like the technical stuff, helping out with
identification of things and talking with old
industry types, getting the scoop on how
things were done BITD.
What was your first trick?
Hmmm...a coaster wheelie?
What is your hardest trick?
Rollback 540's
Are you riding anything else Extreme?
Are you serious...LOL
What is your best memory?
Hanging with Bob Haro in Boston in 1982 and
then in 1983 getting a phone call from Bob
asking if I wanted to ride for Haro
What is your worst memory?
Catching coping on my halfpipe, being
ejected and eating flat bottom. I
thought I fractured my sternum. Once I
caught my breath, I had my friend drive
me to the hospital to get a chest xray.
Man did that hurt...
Have you learned a new trick?
Nope.
What kind of bike do you ride now?
I have a Supercross cruiser, and am
building a custom 26" cruiser to tool
around on. I'd love to build up a Haro
Freestyler but I'll let the guys with deep
pockets fight over them.
