What do you do for a living?: Private Investigator
When did you start collecting?: Since about 1997
What originally got you started? I originally started collecting when I found out that "Redline" stuff
could be found on ebay. I started see other bike things that I always wanted.....and it went from
there.
How long have you been collecting? I have been collecting for about 7 years, building-up bikes
that I wanted, selling some for other, etc....I try to keep a rotation :)
What is your favorite bike to collect? I mainly collect Redline RL-20II's, but I have other bikes
like GT's and Haro's. I have recently been collecting up old childhood bikes and restoring them to
how I had them back in the Day. Some I had to build from the ground-up to get. I am also one that
tends to go "custom" on my builds.
What is your current restoration project? Currently, I am restoring an RL-20II for a guy named
Jeff. I am also building a 90 Haro Master bashgaurd bike that I am not sure how I want to do it. I got
a special project taht is requiring more time, and I do bits of it at a time as I go. I try not to do more
than one project at a time, but that is not always the case...
How many bikes do you have in your collection? Hummmm? About 10 completes and about
10+ frame&forks.
Is there any one bike that brings back special memories? That would have to have my '87
Redline RL-20A "childhood" bike. That will always have the memories. It was my 1st "brand name"
bike, and the one that started my liking for the 80's RL's.
Is there a bike that you don't have that you still want to build?: I would like to build just about any
bike, and I think the ones that I have already done are the main ones...
What was your first restore? My 1st "restore" was an '88 Redline RL-20II in the Mango color
scheme.
What was your very first bike that you can remember riding as a kid? mid 80's Murray BMX
bike. Not sure the exact model name...
Any last comments you would like to say to every one? Ever since being on this board, I have
found that it is "okay" to build these bikes and collect them. I really enjoy building and restoring 80's
bikes. The Vintage board is a great place to share these builds, and see the others for inspiration
and helpful tips and ideas. Thanks to Mark on your great web site, also benefiting all the old
schoolers.
